In the village of Škalnica there is a very old Church of St Vincent the Martyr, which dates back to the Middle Ages. It once served as a manor house chapel and although the manor house was destroyed in the 18th century, the chapel was preserved. St Vincent was considered the protector of the vineyards, which were vital for the inhabitants of Škalnica, many of whom lived from growing grapes. To this day, Saint Vincent is the patron saint of the village and his feast is celebrated on 22 January.
