The newly opened interpretation center of the Belica houses in the old city center brings visitors closer to the winemaking, vineyard and cellar traditions of Kastavština as an important part of the local life and identity of this region. This topic is presented in an accessible and engaging way adapted to different age and interest groups of visitors. The house is also a venue for cultural, oenological and educational events, as well as the promotion of Kastava winemaking.
The effort of the local peasants invested in clearing the land and obtaining arable land from the local stony soil, as well as various tasks and means used in viticulture, about vine diseases that came to these regions at the end of the 19th century, and to see the technical means used in their suppression were also presented.
A significant part of the exhibition is devoted to Belica itself, the most representative Kastava wine made from a blend of several local grape varieties: autochthonous verdić, divjaka and Mejsko to which Malvasia is added, and the story of the rescue of this important part of the Kastava tradition that found itself on the brink at the end of the 20th century extinction.
